Family Groups – Røde Kors Hovedstaden
In Family Group families are introduced to other families and come together to enjoy a meal and do different activities for both young and old family members. As a volunteer you support the families by participating in the activities and contribute to make a cosy and nice atmosphere. It is important that you want to be a part of the activities (e.g. playing board games, do creative activities, dancing) and that you are favourably disposed to the activities and optimistic. Game’s Playmakers are young volunteers who are making a difference for children and young people in underserved neighbourhoods or in GAME’s indoor facilities. They do this by arranging weekly practices in street basketball, street football, street dance, and parkour for local children and youth. If you are interested, contact email hello@game.ngo. Café Mellemrummet is a volunteer driven non-profit café and bar which is part of the Danish NGO Mellemfolkeligt samvirke. As a volunteer you can stand behind the bar and serve coffee, beer and drinks for both local and international guests in a calm and cosy surrounding. You can also gain experience with planning events, working with sound at concerts, picking out products for the bar, painting and decorating the café or work with PR and communication. Bicycle training, Red Cross Copenhagen
Red Cross Copenhagen branch offers bicycle training for adults with a non-Danish background. Here the participants learn to ride a bicycle in a safe and closed environment before they enter the traffic. As a volunteer, you will teach balance, maneuverability, traffic rules and basicmaintenance of the bike. You can ride a bicycle, you have an interest in communicating and have a good deal of patience. Care Center for homeless discharged after hospitalization, Red Cross Copenhagen
The care center is a temporary residence for homeless adults who have been discharged after hospitalization. The center also accommodates homeless people who have been subjected to an accident or incurred a serious physical illness. As a volunteer, you help patients as they recover. The support is in the form of both care, conversation and treatment. As a volunteer at the care center, you have a desire to help people with different backgrounds. Your professional background is subordinate. Most importantly, you are tolerant and have a positive mindset.

DIGNITY (Danish Institute Against Torture) is an independent human rights and development organization. Their vision is a world free of torture and cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment. 141 countries practice torture and approx. 30 percent of the refugees wo arrive in Denmark have been subjected to torture. DIGNITY wants to draw the Danish population’s attention to this, and as a volunteer you help them do so through awareness raising events, activities and campaigns. Settlementet på Vesterbro is a socio-economic association which helps socially vulnerable people through different activities and initiatives. GRACE CPH is a place for homeless people in Copenhagen as a part of the social organization Blå Kors Danmark. In winter, emergency shelter is open evert night, for the people living on the street. Kaffe Karma is looking for volunteers who want to make a positive difference for the socially disadvantaged in Copenhagen. The Global Queer Volunteer Team

Works on initiatives to support Global LGBTIQ+ rights. They work on building three different types of initiatives: 1) Events during key dates in Copenhagen, for example Prides or activist weeks. They build events such as webinars, workshops, social times, protest groups, 2) Joint initiatives with LGBTIQ+ organisations in the Global South, such as joint events or collective campaigns, 3) Advocacy and research about global LGBTIQ+ rights. Vores asylbørn (our asylum children) is an association that aims to ensure the well-being and development of asylum children in the short and long term while they are in Denmark. Trampolinhuset
In the Weekend Trampoline House, asylum seekers, rejected asylum seekers, and refugees with a residence permit can get counselling, develop capacities, find community, and bear testimony to the shadow sides of Danish refugee policy. The house is a gathering place for displaced people as well as Danish citizens and international residents, who think that the Danish asylum and refugee policy has become too tight, and who work for a more humane and inclusive refugee policy in Denmark together. People typically volunteer 1–2 times a week for a minimum six months. Unfortunately, we cannot help with your visa application process – you should already have a visa or residence permit when applying. GreenKayak is an environmental NGO that engages volunteers in the fight against environmental pollution while kayaking. Omstilling NU is a network organization and platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing and project development, which aims to create a sustainable transformation of our society. They are involved in different projects that promote green mobility. They have a lot of volunteers both in the different projects and they have a board of volunteers. Foodsharing Copenhagen is one of Denmarks’ largest anti food waste organizations. They raise awareness of the food waste and distribute food that would otherwise be thrown away but is still perfectly good. Nordic Ocean Watch Denmark strives to strengthen the public focus on the extent of ocean pollution and its consequences. They want to be a part of a future where marine pollution is reduced through the actions of the individuals as well as volunteer initiatives. Food distribution – Røde Kors Hovedstaden
In the distribution, you greet the participants with a smile, check them on the list and hand out a basket of goods. Before that, the goods must be sorted, divided evenly and packed in baskets. The café is a place for a cosy get-together. As a volunteer, you must be open to chatting with the participants, be there to listen and ensure a good atmosphere in the café.

Charity Shops, Red Cross Copenhagen
Red Cross Copenhagen runs 16 shops with second hand clothing around the capital. One shop sells children’s clothing, other shops (Fremtiden and Frygtløs) specifically focus on selling youth clothing and young volunteers run the shops. At the Red Cross Megastores furniture and utility items are sold.You will have various tasks as a volunteer such as customer service, sorting clothes, ironing, window decoration or minor cleaning. You will receive thorough training and courses, and you will be invited to exciting events and have many committed colleagues.

Sydhavnens Folkemøde (The People’s Meeting in Sydhavnen): A volunteer project which hopes to have more local influence on the development of Sydhavnen. They can always use volunteers in relation to making the event. BRUS is four different venues in Copenhagen that consist of: Basement (Vesterbro), Råhuset (Vesterbro), Stairway (Vanløse) and Underwerket (Valby). As a volunteer, you have the opportunity to get really close to the production and help create high-quality culture on a relevant stage. At Huset-KBH they present an abundance of diverse events every year, and there are a lot of great ways you can contribute to their  welcoming volunteering team. IFEL Specialsport is an NGO who helps people with special needs to become part of local associations in e.g. sports clubs etc. They are looking for volunteers to help with the training in different activities, but also to help with more administrative tasks, so maybe something with IT/communication or board work.
