Volunteer outdoors at Sydhavnstippen

Dreaming of swapping your office chair for a day outdoors? Bring your colleagues along and enjoy a day together taking care of the nature areas at Sydhavnstippen.

What will you do as a nature caretaker?

On a day as volunteer caretakers you will work on practical tasks such as planting trees and bushes, removing harmful plants and invasive species, helping maintain the natural environment by picking up litter and keeping the trails accessible for Sydhavnstippen’s many visitors.

Everyone can participate

Being a nature conservation volunteer is for everyone who enjoys nature and is ready to be physically active. No special skills, experience or language abilities are needed – you can also participate even if you do not speak Danish.

A thorough introduction

You will receive a thorough briefing from Syhavnstippen’s resident nature guide. They will tell you about Sydhavnstippen’s history and natural environment, introduce you to the tasks, and make sure you all have the tools you need such as gloves, and other gear for the day.

Great reasons to volunteer outdoors

Spending time in nature has many benefits for both our mental and physical well-being. It can strengthen the immune system and have a positive effect on mood and well-being. Exploring nature also offers exercise and training, inspires creativity, increases understanding and respect for the natural world, and raises knowledge about different plants, grasses, and local animals and insects.

Here's how to join in:

Send an email to info@frivilligcentervsv.dk where you include the following:

  • A description of your company and your motivation for volunteering
  • What kinds of volunteer work you’re interested in
  • How many people you estimate will be participating
  • A date or period where you would like to plan your volunteer day

Then we’ll get in touch with recommendations for how to proceed.

We can’t wait to hear from you!

Practical Information

All volunteers at Sydhavnstippen receive a thorough introduction to the nature care tasks from the nature guides. The guide can also help find tasks that match participants’ abilities and physical needs.

Volunteering days are typically planned for 5-15 participants at a time, but larger groups can be accommodated.

A volunteering day usually starts around 9:00-10:00 and lasts about 5-7 hours.

Practical clothing and footwear are recommended. As nature caretakers, you may remove invasive plants, so it’s best to wear clothes that can get dirty or damaged.

Sydhavnstippen is accessible for everyone. You can participate regardless of Danish language skills, any disability, or professional background. There are tasks suitable for all participants.

While we love helping people become volunteers, organising such a day requires time and resources. Therefore, the following fee is charged to arrange a corporate volunteering day:

  • A start-up fee of 10.000 DKK (regardless of the number of participants)
  • 500 DKK per participant

These fees help cover the centre’s costs of organising the event and allow us to continue offering support and guidance to local volunteers and associations.

If your group would like to have lunch at Sydhavnstippen, this can be arranged for an additional cost.
